192
Our first shooting assignment for class was to take a picture every five minutes for a sixteen hour day. I have to say by the end of the day I was mentally tired and was sick of taking pictures. Here are a few of my favorite from that assignment.

Faces of Ground Zero
The other day I was looking through some well know photographers online, and I stumbled upon Joe McNally's website. As I was look through his pictures I found he has a project called "Faces of Ground Zero". He photographed victims, rescuers, uniformed workers, and others with an unique Giant Polaroid camera in the weeks following 9/11. Ten years later he photographed the same people again. It is a truly amazing project. It's totally worth looking it up!

"How to Win Friends & Influence People"
So far I really enjoy this book. I like how he uses many examples from history to get his point across. I have seen first hand what it means when Carnegie say "...human nature in action, wrongdoers, blaming everybody but themselves." In my experience people who are in the wrong will never admit it is their fault.
My favorite quote from this chapter was from Benjamin Franklin when he said "I will speak ill of no man, and speak all the good I know of everybody." I also like how Carnegie goes on to say "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain--and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.
In Chapter 2, I really like how he talks about the desire to be important. I think that is a major thing that not many actually think of. I really like how he talked about showing appreciation. I feel like appreciation is super important, specially in girls! I like the story he tells about the guy buying his wife roses instead of complaining about what she could do better!
One of my favorite quotes from the last chapter of part one is "If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person's point of view and see things from that person's angle as well as from your own." I think that is something we do not do very often, because we are so focused on our points of view. It's hard to make friends or even get people to stand to be around you if you do not try to see others points of view. I really like part two so far. I like how he puts it when he says "If we want to make friends, let's put ourselves out to do things for other people-things that require time, energy, unselfishness and thoughtfulness." That is so true, making friends takes effort and actually thinking of someone other than yourself.

2. What’s your major? What year will you graduate?
Right now I am a photography major. I might change to a journalism major with a photography minor because I want to be a sports photographer. Honestly, who knows what I'll finally decide to major in.
3. Why did you choose a photography class (or photography as a major), and what do you hope to learn from school in general and this class specifically?
I choose photography as a major because I love to take pictures. I know that sounds cliche, but when I have a camera around my neck I feel like I'm doing what I am suppose to be doing with my life. I hope to learn things in school that will prepare for the future. I want to learn a lot of different things about many subjects, so I can be a well-round person. In this class, I hope to learn things that will make me a better photographer. I'm really excited to learn how touse Lightroom.
4. What are your goals after graduation? Please list your goals in reverse order, starting five years out, then three, two, one, and six months.
Five years from now I want to have a good sports photography job. I want to someday work for ESPN.Three years from now I want to be starting my senior year here at Commerce, studying whatever I decide to major in and working on my awesome thesis. Two years from now I want to be getting back from studying aboard, most likely in London. I want to have a good internship or job on campus. One year from now I want to know what I'm majoring in.
Six months from now I want to know a lot more about photography. I would have wanted to finish the first semester of college with good GPA and be preparing for finals for the second semester.
